Nigerian are widely distressed by the number of players that have picked up an injury ahead of Nigeria’s big face-off against South Africa next month.
The Super Eagles currently have a cozy seat atop the Group E table with nine points, nonetheless, their game against the Bafana Bafana, in Johannesburg, on 17th of November 2018, will either make or mar their chances of qualifying for the 2019 African Cup of Nations.
Second-placed South Africa on eight points, will be looking to crush the Eagles in their next encounter — just as they did in last year’s qualifier game. However, having been absent from the last two editions of the AFCON, the Eagles definitely have more to fight for when they meet next month.
In a rather sad turn of events, more crucial players in the national team have turned up injured after their double-header
qualifier against Libya.
As they gear up to face South Africa, the Eagles cannot count on the support of Ogenyi Onazi, Shehu Abdullahi, William Troost-Ekong, Henry Onyekuru and Kenneth Omeruo, who are all out with injuries; it is uncertain when they will make a return to the team.
That said, this is not the first time the Nigerian team has been hit with a situation as dire as this, and they managed their way out of it, so we can surely trust that they’ll do the same against the South Africa.
