LEAP Africa is inviting young filmmakers in Nigeria to submit short films in its CTIP Short Film Competition for the chance to win a cash prize of ₦1 million.

The LEAP Africa CTIP Short Film Competition 2022 is organized with the aim of eliciting media that inspire conversations about widely held beliefs, and encourages positive change in these areas, as well as the nature of society’s reaction to them.

Entries submitted for this event should be short films of decent quality, with video and audio in sync, demonstrating great creativity, originality and uniqueness.

Benefits

  1. The winning entry will attract a cash prize of ₦1 million
  2. The winner will also get a six-month retainer contract to create other short films for the organization (LEAP Africa)
  3. They will get LEAP Africa branded merchandise
  4. Three finalists will have their works premiered at an event that will be attended by guests from the public, private, and development sectors
  5. The films will also be published on social media platforms and promoted to the general public

Eligibility

LEAP Africa expects applicants to meet these conditions:

They should be Nigerians ages between 18 and 35 years
  • •Submissions may come from individuals, groups, or organizations
  • •The short film to be submitted may be produced in any Nigerian language (Hausa, Yoruba, Igbo, or Pidgin English) along with English sub-titles

  • Entries should include:
  1. A storyboard and written script for the short films (in a Microsoft Word document);
  2. A short film that’s 15 minutes long or less, in either MP4 or MOV format, and video size of 720P (1280×720);
  3. A 60 seconds long abridged version of the short film, in MP4 or MOV formats, with video size 720P (1280×720)
  • A Script Rationale that explains the short film in at most 300 words
  • The short film should not include copyrighted video, music, or images

The Lead-Up To Winning The Prize

The deadline for entries into this competition is April 3, 2022.

A panel of judges will select three finalists from the pool of entries based on the competition’s set criteria. The organization’s management will review the finalists and chose the winning short film.

Note: Participants are expected to follow @leapafrica and @palladium on all social media platforms. Persons who do not do this may be disqualified.
