The Nigeria Liquified Natural Gas (LNG) Limited has opened entries for the Nigeria Prize for Science. Scientists from across the world, whether they are Nigerian or non-Nigerian are invited to submit evidence of their work if is it’s relevant to the theme of the prize, for a chance to win $100,000.

This annual prize is organized by the Nigeria LNG (NLNG) with the goal of recognizing a scientific solution that could improve the lives of Nigerians by tackling challenges in various aspects of their existence.

The theme for this year’s edition of the Nigeria LNG Prize for Science is ‘Innovations In Sustainable Food Security’. In line with this theme, scientific solutions entered for the prize are expected to improve food production (while maintaining nutritional values), food production processes and process technologies, and organic food preservation technologies.

The winner(s) of the NLNG Prize for Science will enjoy the following benefits:

  • Win an award of $100,000.
  • Receive coverage from the Nigerian media.
  • Get recognition for their solution both within and outside of Nigeria.

Eligibility

Persons who intend to enter for the prize are expected to meet these conditions in order to qualify:
  • Be a scientist who is working (or has worked) on solutions that enable sustainable food security.
  • The solution should be outstanding and advance the frontiers of knowledge in food security.
  • The submission should be original and note the area of concern that it tackles.
  • Should not be a member (or a relative of a member) of the Advisory Board or panel of the Science Prize.
  • Should not be a staff (or relative of a staff) of the NLNG.
  • Materials supporting the entry should be submitted before the entry deadline.

The Lead-Up To Winning The Prize

Entrants should submit supporting articles and documents for their solution, along with a scanned passport-sized photograph before the entry deadline, which is April 29, 2022.

The winner (or winners) will be announced at a world press conference to be held in September. They will be rewarded at a Grand Award Ceremony which will take place in October.
