It is exciting news to know that social media networks such as Facebook and Twitter are creating innovative ways for businesses to flourish on their platforms. In what turns out to be less surprising news, Twitter has revealed that it is testing a “buy now” button which will allow users to make purchases directly from tweets.
For a couple of months now, this button has been floating around showing off products sold by Fancy, an online store. Twitter teamed up with American Express last year on an initiative which allowed people to make purchases using hashtags.
The service has already been made available to a limited number of US users. In its official blog post, Twitter says the button is “an early step in our building functionality into Twitter to make shopping from mobile devices convenient, easy, and hopefully fun.”
As for when this service will be made available to other markets, Twitter has given no timeline.
