In this article, I’m going to explore the top five things that unhappy do that you shouldn’t be doing.
-
Seeking Approval From Others
Unhappy people spend their lives worrying about what others think of them when they should focus on themselves and appreciate themselves for who they’re. During my unhappy days, I was always seeking people’s approval on how to live my own life. If there’s anything you should stop doing, it’s seeking people’s approval on how you should live your life. Don’t spend your time displeasing yourself in a bid to please others. It’s advised that if you want to remain happy, put yourself and your belief first. Like John Obidi would say: ”Choose yourself first.”

They Want To Control Everything
Unhappy people, in a bid to be proactive, fall into the mould of trying to control everything. They believe that by being in control they can forestall negative future occurrences. They want to run against the tides of life and its uncertainties and unpredictability. In a long run, they waste so much energy and in the end, they can’t control life’s uncertainties, which leaves them frustrated. You must understand that you can’t control everything. You can only, at best, face each new challenge with a positive spirit.

They Live An Atmosphere Of Ingratitude
Unhappy people focus on what is lost or missing in their lives. They focus on what they don’t have. They always wish they had one thing or the other. Unhappy people anchor the key to their happiness on what is missing. They see themselves as losers and people that suck at life. They’re in the habit of counting their curses rather than their blessings. Focusing on what we have, the lives we’ve impacted in our little way, family, friends, and other achievements in general, can translate us from the gloominess of being unhappy into an atmosphere of peace and satisfaction.
-
They Don’t Follow Their Heart
Unhappy people follow their logical reasoning rather than their instincts. They weigh everything on the scale of logic and ignore their guts. They fail to understand that their instincts understands the workings of the universe and detect all feelings and messages that the brain cannot detect. Following your instincts can help you overcome delays in decision-making.

They Hold On To Grudges
Unhappy people are trapped in the schemes of their own doing, and one of which is holding on to grudges. This has partly played a role in why they’re not moving forward because they’re caged in their past. They choose to dwell in painful pasts. Dwelling in the past, especially a painful and bitter one, can affect your mental and physical health. According to studies, people who hold on to bitter memories rarely make happy homes and happy coworkers. In a bid to be happy, it’s best to understand that painful memories cannot be undone, and thus you must learn to forgive and seek peace within yourself and live your life with more carefulness.
