  Applications are currently open for the SWEEP Training Program for Nigerian women entrepreneurs. SWEEP stands for ‘Scaling Women’s Economic Empowerment through Affirmative Procurement Reforms’. This initiative has been set up to help women-owned and led businesses overcome the challenges that they face in the procurement sector. If you are a woman who runs a business in the procurement space, you may consider applying for a place in this program. It could greatly enhance your skills in this segment.

The SWEEP Training Program, a one-month course, will train participants to bid for procurement contracts and develop excellent proposals. They will also learn to use technology to increase their revenues, utilize social media to promote their brand and work, monitor consumer behaviour, and build and manage websites for their business. In addition to these, they will be exposed to strategies for navigating tough economic conditions, and be supported by experienced procurement professionals.

Eligibility

This program is open to persons who meet the following criteria:
  • Business must be owned (at least 51%) or led by a woman/women
  • Business must be located in Abuja
  • The program will prioritize businesses that are not yet fully formalized and need help with completing the process of formalization
  • There is a preference for businesses in which women make up 30% of the board
