Applications are currently open in the NITDA/Coursera Scholarship Program for persons who want to learn selected tech skills. The National Information Technology Development Agency (NITDA) is partnering with Coursera, a leading global online learning platform, to facilitate the training of Nigerians who would like to become competent in one or several tech disciplines.

The scholarships will enable Nigerians to obtain professional certifications from leading tech companies (such as Google, IBM, and Meta), and top US universities. Applicants are expected to select one certification program each from Category A and Category B which they would like to be enrolled in.

Details Concerning Categories A and B

  • Category A is the IT career pathway, which offers 20 professional certification programs that will enable participants to start a career in Information Technology. Certificates will be issued to enrollees after they complete the program they select.
  • Category B is the complementary skills track, which offers 4 certification programs which participants can choose from to complement the course they’ve chosen from Category A. This pathway will help to define enrollees’ use of digital tools, as well as their entrepreneurial or freelancing pursuits.

Benefits

This program provides the following benefits to members of its cohort:

  • Learn at no cost to them
  • They will be able to access courses in any of the 3 Million Technical Talent (3MTT) core skill areas
  • Have access to the Coursera license for 6 months
  • Increase their chances of landing decent jobs upon completing the program
  • Equip them with the skills they need to excel as entrepreneurs and freelancers in the digital space, if they choose to follow this route

Eligibility

Intending applicants must meet these criteria:

  • Have a National Identification Number (NIN)
  • Have reliable access to the Internet to take the required courses
