  If you are developing a project that could improve food production locally or globally, you may consider applying for the IFT Seeding the Future Global Food System Challenge. This program identifies food projects and provides them with substantial funding to build out their ideas into tangible solutions. Applications are currently open for the 2024 edition of the competition, and entries are being received from contestants worldwide.

The IFT Seeding the Future Global Food System Challenge is an initiative of the Institute of Food Technologists and is funded by the Seed the Future Foundation. It targets high-impact innovations that enable the increased production of nutritious food via a sustainable system that’s accessible and affordable.

Benefits

This challenge offers participants the following rewards:
  • Seed grants worth $25,000 each to innovations for which there is a prototype or proof of concept and one which has shown feasibility
  • Growth grants worth $100,000 each for organizations that have demonstrated that their project is doable and shown high-impact potential
  • Seeding the future grand prizes of $250,000 each, awarded to organizations that have developed innovations that are scalable, economically feasible and compelling to consumers

  • Non-profits
  • Academic or research institutions
  • Early-stage or emerging for-profit companies
