Kaduna based hyper-realism pencil artist, Eli Waduba, is celebrating the appearance of his now-famous Kevin Hart portrait on Steve Harvey’s show. He tweeted:

“And my portrait of my favorite comedian @KevinHart4real made it to @SteveTVShow, thank you so much, Mr. Steve, I feel so honored”

Waduba became an international sensation almost overnight, after his February 25th 2019 tweet with a pencil portrait of Kevin Hart caught the American actor and comedian’s attention.

Wadbuba had tweeted;

“My name is Eli Waduba Yusuf Am a Nigerian, based in Kaduna. Am a hyperrealism PENCIL Artist, I hope to become like @Harinzeyart. Please retweet, let @KevinHart4real see it, thank you”

To which Kevin replied two days later:

“I see it and I want to purchase it…I also want to support you and your amazing talent by giving you a fee to do a pencil drawing of 3 of my celebrity friends that I can gift it to. DM your info and let’s get to work!” t

The artist had told CNN that he believed the American comedian would see his portrait one day but did not expect it to happen as soon as it did.

Eli Waduba holds a degree in Cooperative Economics and Management. He graduated from Kaduna state Polytechnic but has been drawing since the age of 9.

Kevin Hart’s purchase of the piece of art has exposed him to an international audience. It is a breakthrough Waduba had always hoped for. This goes to show that hard work always pays off!
