  The Aspire Coronation Trust (ACT) has announced the opening of its 2024 grant cycle. Accordingly, it is inviting social enterprises and non-profits committed to solving pressing social, environmental and economic issues to apply for funding from it. The organization says it aims to support these entities with financing to help vulnerable people in Africa overcome the significant challenges they face.

Established in 2016, Aspire Coronation Trust (ACT) is a grant-making body that works with local, regional, and national organizations to tackle socio-economic problems. The 2024 grant cycle will see it avail deserving nonprofits and social enterprises of the resources they need to deal with the issues they exist to solve.

Organizations deemed qualified by ACT will receive grants that will enable them to pursue their socio-economic and environmental goals.

Eligibility

This opportunity is open to organizations that meet these criteria:
  • Exist to tackle issues in Health, Environment, Entrepreneurship and Leadership—the core areas of ACT’s operations
  • Must have been appropriately registered as a legal entity in an African country for not less than 24 months
  • Registered as a nonprofit, or if a social enterprise, looking to get grants to support not-for-profit initiatives
  • Have a strong governance structure in place, with details of the organization’s board of directors referred to in its registration documents
  • Show evidence of other sources of funding
  • Must have no less than 3 part-time or full-time (paid) staff
  • Directly responsible for the execution of the project for which a grant is being requested (not an intermediary)

Lead Up to Receiving the Grant

  • Applicants deemed qualified will be asked to submit a full proposal and accompanying budget. The proposal should contain a strong monitoring and evaluation plan and a decent sustainability plan
  • Independent consultants will review submissions, and qualifying applicants will be selected and informed
  • Interviews and physical visits will follow
