The President of the Nigeria Football Federation, Amaju Pinnick is confident that Nigerian football will, in the coming years, only get better seeing as structures that favor the game have been put in place and more are still yet to come. Pinnick gave the statement at the exhibition of Tuesday’s game which saw the Super Eagles B Team take on Europa champions, Athletico Madrid in the GoTV Max Cup. The Nigerian side pulled through the match quite well despite being outscored by the Athletico 3-2.
“We are confident that from the preparatory plan that we have put together for the Super Eagles leading to the finals in Russia, and having taken care of off-field matters that may cause distraction, the team will do Nigeria proud in Russia… Looking at the team that just played Atletico Madrid, it gladdens my heart to see that after Russia, we certainly have the players that will also do us proud in 2022 and even 2026.” — Pinnick

Rohr on Ndidi’s recovery

The Super Eagles are already checked into camp and have begun training for the friendly with the Democratic Republic of Congo scheduled for the 28th of May at the Adokiye Amiesimaka Stadium, Port Harcourt. However, the current state of Super Eagles forward, Wilfred Ndidi, is quite uncertain as to his recovery and preparedness for the World Cup final rounds next month. Speaking on this, Super Eagles media officer Toyin Ibitoye told CSN:
“Coach Rohr said he is not losing any sleep over Ndidi’s form for the World Cup… You know Ndidi pulled a hamstring and the general fear was that he may not be fit during the tournament, but Rohr is confident the midfielder won’t suffer a blip in form in Russia.” — Ibitoye
