Anya Wu, an online vendor, has picked a more finely defined niche within this space and is serving a specific market within it. The store provides workwear for women all over Nigeria. It stocks and sells an assortment of clothing for the office, ranging from blouses and shirt dresses to jumpsuits and trouser sets. The company takes its name from its founder’s surname. Ijeoma Anyanwu founded it in 2016, after working for several years as an auditor and consultant. Anyanwu says she wanted to start a business that combined two of her biggest passions—exquisite fashion and empowering young people. She’s expressing her love for fine clothing in the pieces her company sells. Anya Wu’s skirt sets, trouser sets, shift dresses, blouses, and jumpsuits are all available in different forms and colour combinations. Visitors to the online store can view images of some of these items at the ‘shop’ segment.

There’s more than workwear on offer there. Some of the clothes sold at the store are marked as ‘Day Wear’; they are appropriate for casual use and informal outings. Wears from Anya Wu can be ordered on its website, via Direct Messaging on Instagram, and WhatsApp. The website lists the price for each item, along with a brief description and the option to select product size. Besides selling locally, Anya Wu also ships to the USA, UK, Canada, and Ghana. Buyers from other countries can contact them to arrange a special dispatch as well. There’s a strong Corporate Social Responsibility ethos woven into Anya Wu’s business model. The company says it donates a school uniform to socially disadvantaged children for every “Black” dress purchased from it. This initiative is run in association with ‘Give Girls a Chance’, an NGO that supports formal education for children. Featured Image Source: Anya Wu
