What is SMEDAN?

SMEDAN is a government agency with the responsibility of supporting, monitoring and developing the MSME segment of the Nigerian economy. Since its establishment in 2003, it has initiated several programs and provided resources aimed at equipping small businesses to scale and thrive. They include financial aid, training, and enterprise toolkits.

How to Register

Take these steps to register with SMEDAN:
  • Step One: Visit the SMEDAN registration website (linked at the end of this article)
  • Step Two: Provide the following information, as requested: business name, phone number, business location, business type, product or service, asset value, number of staff, evidence of registration with CAC (Corporate Affairs Commission), and information concerning the business owner
  • Step Three: Submit the registration form along with business registration documents, proof of ownership and other items on the website
  • Step Four: After you have completed the registration process, you will receive an email containing your SMEDAN Unique Identification Number (SUIN)
