With this development, the former Chief of Defense Staff, General Abayomi Olonisakin has been replaced with Major-General Leo Irabor; the Chief of Army Staff, Tukur Buratai with Major-General Ibrahim Attahiru; Chief of Naval Staff, Vice Admiral Ibok Ekwe Ibas with Rear Admiral A.Z Gambo; and the Chief of Air Staff, Air Marshall Sadique Abubakar with Air-Vice Marshal I.O Amao. The President thanked them for their service to the nation and charged the new service chiefs with the task of remaining loyal in the discharge of their duties to the nation.

It will a fair assessment to say that the outgone service chiefs, though they served their Fatherland, however, did a very poor job in the handling of the ever-increasing and ubiquitous insecurity in Nigeria.
