Nigeria’s striker, Victor Osimhen has won another award in the French Ligue 1, emerging as the Best African Player in the French league for the year 2020. The award which is organized by Radio France International and France 24 is named after late Cameroonian midfielder, Marc Vivien Foe, to honour the best among the numerous African players who ply their trade in France. 21-year-old Osimhen beat fellow countryman, Simon Moses who recently sealed a permanent move to Nantes, and eight other African stars to the prestigious award.  With this, Osimhen now becomes just the second Nigerian to bag the award after legendary Nigerian goalkeeper, Vincent Enyeama, won the prize in 2014 after a string of decent performances for Lille where Osimhen also plies his trade currently. Monaco and Algerian star, Islam Slimani came second, while Yunis Abdelhamid (Morroco) of Stade de Remis placed third. It will be recalled that Osimhen also won the prize for Player of the Season for Lille. His contribution to the Les Douges saw him score 18 times and record six assists in 38 games for the French outfits during the course of the 2019/2020 which ended prematurely due to the coronavirus pandemic.  Six players from Lille have won this award in the past with Gervinho of Ivory Coast clinching the prize twice in 2010 and 2011, before Vincent Enyeama in 2014, Sofiane Boufal in 2016, and Arsenal record signing, Nicolas Pepe, in 2019 before making a switch to the English Premier League. Lille has expressed excitement at their player winning the prize again and has extended congratulatory messages to the Nigerian striker who is considered to be one of the best African footballers at the moment and subject of transfer rumours as European top clubs vie to get his signature on paper for a transfer deal. https://twitter.com/LOSC_EN/status/1277512008359907329?s=19 Source Completesports
