Nollywood actress, scriptwriter and producer, Omoni Obolihas just turned 40. To mark her birthday, she is set to launch her first book titled, The Stars Are Ageless. A tell-all book about her life, her adventure with love, and how she found her footing the the movie industry.

Tried and true

The mother of three, started her acting career in 1996 on the movie set of  ‘Bitter Encounter’, playing the role of a secretary, after which she acted in Shame and got leading roles in Not My Will, Destined To Die and Another Campus Tale. Oboli then left the movie industry for about a decade during which she completed her university education at the University of Benin where she studied Foreign Languages and got married soon after. She also trained as a scriptwriter and director at the New York Film Academy. In addition to running the Omoni Oboli Foundation, has several acting credits to her name, including ‘Fatal Imagination’, ‘The First Lady’, ‘Wives on Strike’, and ‘The Rivals’. Other major movies she has been involved in include ‘The Figurine’, ‘Render To Ceaser’,Anchor Baby’, ‘Being Mrs Elliot’, and ‘Fifty’ and more. She also directed ‘Being Mrs Elliott’, ‘Okafor’s Law’, ‘The First Lady’.

Star

She is the recipient of several awards including the prize for Best International Drama at the New York International Independent Film & Video Festival, award for Best Actress Narrative Feature at the Los Angeles Movie Awards, and the award for Best Actress at the Harlem International Film Festival, making her the first Nollywood actress to win Best Actress in two international festivals. She won the award for Big Screen Actress of the Year at the 2014 Exquisite Lady of the Year (ELOY) Awards, for her movie ‘Being Mrs Elliott’. The actress-producer is one of the 27 selected participants from an original 300 nominees from over 30 African countries for the 2018 Archbishop Desmond Tutu Leadership Fellowship in South Africa The official date for the book launch is 5th May, but pre-launch sales are on going at Quintessence, Parkview Shopping Complex, Parkview Estate, Ikoyi.
