Golden City Entertainment, an indigenous entertainment company, has launched a campus tour aimed at creating a platform for young creative talents with interest in gospel arts.
The tour, tagged “Oh My God”, was born out of the realization that gospel artists lack the platform to grow and maximize their potentials. Mr Raymond Yeesuf, speaking on behalf of the company at a press conference, said that the tour was already underway, having commenced at the Nasarawa State University, Keffi, with an impressive turnout of a wide spectrum of fresh, talented acts at the audition. “We just finished the auditions in Nasarawa State University in Keffi, and we had an amazing array of artists,” he said.
According to Mr Raymond, “This movement is something that came as a result of gospel artists not having a platform to push their music. Many of them have the talents and the skills but they lack the platform… We are not just talking about the musicians or singers, we are also talking about actors, poets, singers, inspirational speakers, writers and more.”
Auditions are expected to hold in 9 tertiary institutions across Nigeria in order to discover these artists and help them up through the Global City Entertainment platform. Successful participants at the auditions will perform at the live show on the 16th of June with other established artists.
The team, which includes popular musician, 6 Foot Plus, plans to visit other campuses on the tour. They include Lagos State University, University of Port Harcourt, Abuja University, among others.
