  Nigerian forward, Chinedu Obasi Ogbuke, has stated that chief coach of the Super Eagles, Gernot Rohr, needs to inject much more experienced players into the squad to achieve more success. Obasi who has been ignored for several years from the national team fold expressed his confidence in the Super Eagles current set-up, opining that the squad has quality.

Gernot Rohr who led the Super Eagles to a third-place finish at the 2019 Africa Cup of Nations in Egypt has come under intense criticism following the winless run of the Eagles in their last four games. Obasi who was instrumental to Nigeria’s silver-winning exploit at the 2008 Olympics in Beijing, China, has backed the team to do better.

‘We have a great team, but sometimes it’s difficult to say like the last game; it didn’t go the way we would have wanted, going four ahead of Sierra Leone and the opponents coming back, it’s always a very difficult situation. At the same time, I think we have a great team, it’s all about finding a way to get the best out of the boys, I just think that’s the key. And sometimes, there are places where you need experience, but it’s not my job; I’m just a spectator watching from outside and it is a different ball game when you are with the team.
