For a while, the Super Eagles have experienced a downturned movement in their World ranking, despite finishing atop the FIFA CAF group B table and being the first African team to bag a ticket to Russia. Nigeria was in 51st position in the world with 651 points in January, but according to the ranking released on FIFA’s official website on Thursday, Nigeria is now 52nd with 606 points. In the African ranking, Nigeria has maintained the seventh position with Tunisia in first. While Senegal, DR Congo, Morocco and Egypt are all in top five. On the international scene, Germany is in the first position, while Brazil, Portugal, Argentina and Belgium, Spain Poland, Switzerland, France and Chile, all make up the top 10 ranked teams. Nigeria’s counterparts and group mates for the Russia 2018 World Cup, Argentina and Croatia have both maintained their place in the World ranking in positions 4 and 15 respectively. However, Iceland is two steps forward and have moved from a 3 figure point to a four-figure point count.
