ConnectNigeria_Nigerian Football Federation   The National Sports Commission and House of Representatives have successfully persuaded Mrs. Ebiakpo Baribote, co-owner of Nembe Football Club, to withdraw the court case against the Nigeria Football Federation (NFF) in a bid to overturn the FIFA-imposed ban on Nigeria. Nembe Football Club and NFF have been at loggerheads after NFF unceremoniously banned Mrs. Baribote’s husband, Victor Rumson Baribote, for 15 years. Following a meeting between the Baribotes and top sports administrators, a motion has been set to the case that will take place out of Plateau High Court in Jos. Both parties also agreed that the ban on Mr. Baribote will be lifted and he will be allowed to contest in the next NFF elections. FIFA had given Nigeria a July 17 deadline to reinstate Aminu Maigari-led NFF board which was replaced by a sole administrator. However, FIFA is yet to make a statement on the matter and as a result, Golden Eaglets’ involvement in an African Championship qualifier this weekend is in doubt.
