BEFORE any battle is fought physically, it must have been fought first in the head. Every battle is won twice, first in your head, then second in your actions. Read what happened to Thomas Edison when he was a child. His teacher had written a ‘hate mail’ and sent to Thomas’ mother. “Your son is addled (mentally ill). We won’t let him come to school anymore.” His mother read the letter but when Thomas asked the mother what was written in the letter, she said to him, “Your son is a genius. This school is too small for him and he does not have enough good teachers for training him. Please teach him yourself.” Thomas’ mother could have ruined her son’s life had she not applied wisdom by reading the opposite of the hate mail sent to her from the teacher. Instead, she made her son, Thomas, believe he was a genius…first in his head. Thomas believed it and he went ahead to really become a genius.
Win the battle first in your head and no matter how many hate mails you receive from people, none of them will stop you from becoming a success. People can look down on you. They can call you bad names. But you will only become what they call you the moment you start to believe those words. No one can make you feel stupid, inferior without your permission. You can become whatever you choose to believe.
