There is good news for everyone looking for a fun activity this weekend. The long-awaited Lagos Carnival will take place this weekend, Saturday, 9th May. The event will have a parade of dancers, dressed in very bright and colourful costumes. Attendees can also expect great performances from live carnival bands. The carnival usually takes place during the Easter weekend but was moved to May this year due to the postponement of the general elections, as stated in an official statement by the carnival’s organisers. It was also stated that there will be no Junior Carnival this year, as schools are currently in session. The parade will begin on Awolowo Road, Ikoyi and end in Tafawa Balewa Square (TBS), the main venue. We advise that all readers – who will not be attending the carnival – stay clear of these areas; the Lagos Island axis, in particular, as few routes will be accessible by cars. Do share this news with your friends and family, so we can all have a fun, peaceful weekend! If you’d like to know more about the carnival, including how you can participate, visit the official website.       Photo Credit: Jideodukoya.com
