It is no news that most service based businesses thrive online especially at this point in time, and it is the most used medium to scale up. So, we will be building on this, and this post will help brainstorm and strategize on how best to help your business.
The common mistake most service based businesses make is to have one offer, which is not in itself a bad thing, but only indicates that there will be difficulty in scaling up. The first change you might need to make is to offer an additional service to your business. The best kind is a complimentary service. For example, if you offer content creation as a service, graphic designing can become a complimentary service without you drifting away from your core.
If you discover that you do not have enough expertise in the complimentary service you want to offer, then you can scale by outsourcing. This means that you do not have to do all the work by yourself. It also is the most effective way to get the work done. The secret to doing this is to reach out to people already offering services you want to add as complimentary, and then find out the prices they charge. Once this is done, you add their prices as consideration when offering your final price to your client.
The focus should be on your client. Questions that are worth answering is how do I help my client the best way possible? How do I make their lives better? This is what guides the kind of service you are offering and the way it is being packaged.
The next means to scale up is to venture into the knowledge sharing aspects of your business. If you are confident that you have developed expertise and have a measure of experience, you should decide to teach it. Teaching is simply documenting your processes and sharing it to people who desire to venture into the same niche as you. You should aim to connect the dots and aid their transition and processes. Your goal is to break down the most complex phenomenon into small bits and simplify it for your target audience.
In knowledge sharing, your focus should be on strategy building. You should not get carried away with trying to tell them exactly what to do, but the ways to get to their own goals. Your lessons should stimulate them to think, and brainstorm, finding their own unique blueprint and picking different cues from your journey. The truth is no two journeys are the same, so it is important they find and tell their own stories.
Finally, desire to expand your network and platforms. Scaling up can just be doing same things in different platforms, as opposed to just one. Explore different marketplaces and pushing your service in there. You study and figure out the peculiarities of these platforms and position yourself to serve your target audience rightly. In this, the difference could just be in how you present the same service. The difference is in the delivery.
A new platform could also afford you the opportunity to set new prices, based on the demand/supply quotient. With adequate research, you could win big in a new platform.
Scaling up your service in 2022 is a mandate, as the world has greatly adjusted to the new normal, following the pandemic. This means you have to take advantage of this reality and solve both existing and new problems. If you focus on value, your business will never go extinct.
