Dropshipping is not a new business venture, rather it has been modified to suit this current generation. In large markets in Nigeria, dropshipping is very common. For example in Lagos market, there are some men from the east, they don’t have shops or stalls in the market, they stay in various locations. When they notice you are looking lost or unsure, they will approach you, ask for what you want and take you where you need to buy your goods. Then, they collect a percentage from the seller after you leave. According to Oberlo, dropshipping is a type of retail fulfillment method for online stores, where instead of warehousing inventory, merchants purchase products from third-party suppliers as customers make orders. The products are then shipped directly to the consumer. This way, the seller doesn’t have to handle the product directly.  In dropshipping you do not necessarily have to buy the product, you just have to connect the seller to the buyer. Dropshipping can be done by anyone, it is not gender biased neither does it have age restrictions. For you to succeed in fashion dropshipping, you must have a fashion entrepreneurship spirit.  These steps will put you through on how you can become a fashion dropshipper in Nigeria.
  1. Find out what you want to sell
  • A dropshipper is simply the link between the seller to the buyer. The dropshipper gains from the transaction.
There are varieties of fashion items or products you can sell in Nigeria. For instance, you can sell bags, shoes, jewelries, clothing, etc. The list is endless. You need to know what product or products you want to dropship. For you to efficiently get it right, you must have a target market: the people you intend to sell to. You can then create or carve out a niche.

You need to find a seller who is willing to make you an intermediary between them and the buyers. One good thing about dropshipping is that you can have different suppliers of the same product or different products. Make sure you discuss every essential detail with the supplier to avoid trouble in the future. Details like: payment, mode of delivery, etc.
  1. Create a marketing strategy
Creating a marketing strategy is an essential thing to do as a fashion entrepreneur. You have an online presence for your business, it is very effective. Remember it is a business, so it must be taken very seriously. You can create a website or market your product on social media platforms like Instagram, Facebook and even WhatsApp for business. You can also invest in marketing the product physically. Like telling your neighbors, colleagues, etc. That being said, being a fashion dropshipper can be done either on part time or full time basis.
