Adejoke’s journey began from her passion for weaving, honed at her weaving school, Jokelinks. Holding a bachelor’s degree in Economics from Obafemi Awolowo University and additional entrepreneurial training from the Enterprise Development Centre (EDC) in Lagos, Adejoke realized the environmental and health hazards posed by the rampant dumping and burning of textile and plastic wastes in her community. This drove her to leverage her weaving skills to start Planet 3R, creating eco-friendly products while empowering others to do the same.
A Vision Aligned With Sustainability
The overarching vision of Planet 3R is not just recycling waste but creating a sustainable future. The company operates on the principles of “Reduce, Reuse, Recycle,” with the vision of a world free from textile and plastic waste. The enterprise has successfully kept over 980,000 kilograms of waste out of landfills, transforming it into valuable products such as bags, shoes, and other accessories. This effort is not only helping to clean up the environment but also creating economic opportunities for many Nigerians. Planet 3R is not just a business; it’s a movement. Adejoke has empowered over 1,000 unemployed youths and women in rural communities, teaching them how to collect, recycle, and create products from waste. The enterprise has also sensitized more than 4,300 students on the importance of recycling, embedding a culture of environmental consciousness in the next generation. Additionally, Planet 3R has conducted 50 creative awareness programs, spreading the message of sustainability far and wide.Sign up for the Connect Nigeria daily newsletter
