World football governing body, FIFA has listed seven Nigerian referees for different categories of its Futuro 111 Course for referees instructors which will be held in Kigali, Rwanda, in the later part of this month. Referees from other African countries enlisted by FIFA will also take part in the training. For the Technical category, Ago Abubakar and Ugheli Cecilia are the Nigerian referees listed, while the Fitness category will see retired 5-A-Side FIFA referee Ibrahim Fagge form part of the exercise.
Nigerian referees listed for the Advanced category of the annual course include Peter Edibe, Felicia Okwugba, Engr Emmanuel Imiere, and seasoned international referee instructor Callistus Chukwujekwu. President of the Nigeria Referees Association (NRA), Otunba Tade Azeez did not fail to express his excitement towards the development and thanked the Nigeria Football Federation (NFF) for the unending support and efforts towards training and retraining the country’s referees for great performances in local and international outings.
The experience garnered in such retraining exercise would no doubt be utilised for the growth of officiating of the round leather game in the country.
