This article is a continuation of the previous article on the Fashion business. Many are willing but few are ready to do what it takes.
Fashion business requires strategic planning. You must be ready to, at all times, criticize and analyze your plan and above all, be consistent and hardworking. This article is not only for intending fashion entrepreneurs, but also for those struggling with their fashion business.
Let‘s dive into the questions we have to answer.
3. Do you have a business plan?
Business plan serves as a guide for every business. It is drafting and analyzing all the important business details of your business. Your business plan shows how ready you are. It contains plans and methods of execution. In fashion business, your plan should contain details of your brand name, the location of your store (online or physical), how you plan on getting fabrics, your marketing strategies, your start-up capital, the number of employees you want to have and how much you intend to pay them, buying relevant sewing materials, etc.
Your plan should contain the A-Z of your business. When writing your comprehensive fashion business plan, you need to conduct a feasibility study: identify all the areas and strength of your business venture, and the strategies you intend to use to succeed.
Your business plan should be written down, don’t jot it in thin air. When writing a business plan, make sure you take your time, don’t be in a hurry.
For example, your business plan can be drafted as: ‘ FT Couture, located in Lagos. I will be selling ready-made corporate dresses to working class women. I should have about 40-45 customers monthly. My shop rent should be about a hundred thousand yearly…’
You can have a draft like the example above, till it becomes a plan ready for execution.
4. What are your marketing strategies?
After having a business plan, every other thing becomes easier, because you know the direction you are headed for. As a fashion entrepreneur, you need to have marketing strategies to boost your business. You also need both online and offline presence.
Social media applications like Facebook, Whatsapp, Instagram, Telegram, etc are good for marketing your fashion business. Many of these social media apps are very easy to use and at little or no cost. For WhatsApp, you can make use of your status, but only people who have your contact can see your status. You can also make use of whatsapp business, where you can use automated messages.
On instagram, you can post attractive pictures of your business and use hashtags for visibility. For offline marketing, you can make use of handbills, posters, word of mouth, etc.
After answering these questions, all you need to do is how to execute these plans. Execution is very important. To do is more honorable than to talk or plan. In the subsequent articles, details on how to execute your fashion business will be discussed.
