Enugu state is a great tourism destination in Nigeria. The weather and landscape make it as special as being in Jos, Plateau state. That’s because there are undulating Plateaus, nature’s scenic views and cosy recreational spots.

Ngwo Pine Forest, Cave and Waterfall.
This Forest in Ngwo-Asaa town, Udi LGA is ideal for group or couple’s outdoor picnics and taking some awesome photographs. Visitors get the added adventure of looking for the cave and waterfall within the forest.
Nike Lake Resort
Built around a large lake, this resort in Nkwo Nike Town, Enugu East LGA is great for a getaway. It has benches by the lake, a hotel with over 200 rooms and 10 villas, an art gallery, tennis court and swimming pool for those looking to get wet.
Milken Hills and Iva Valley
Based in Ngwo, Enugu North LGA, these hills give a great view of Enugu town. Beneath the hills is the Iva Valley which makes this spot great for mountaineers and anyone who wants to hike up a hill to watch a sunrise or a sunset.
Ezeagu Tourist Complex
This spot comprises a hill, a lake and a natural cold and warm spring. It is in Ezeagu LGA, just 30mins drive from Enugu metropolis, the state’s capital. It does not have an accommodation/resort for sleepovers but makes a perfect location for family/group vacations, Picnics, leisure activities and deep personal introspection.
Ugwueme and Udi Hills
These lead to the first coal mine in Nigeria which was opened in 1915. The tunnels in the coal mine create a cave worth exploring by daring tourists. It is also a great place for mountaineers or anyone who enjoys climbing to get a panoramic view of Enugu Metropolis. They are in Enugu North LGA.
Opi Lake Complex
This spot in Nsukka LGA is a conglomerate of seven natural lakes within one community. The lakes in this location include Ikpa, Ogelube, Nkpo, Orufu, Uhere, Ozzi and Eze-agu iyi. Each lake as a distinguishing feature. For instance, some lakes are interconnected. While one lake has a fluctuating density of algae and Phytoplankton depending on the season visitors show up. With a guided tour, this complex is a great experience for tourists.
Enugu Museum
Also known as National Museum of Unity, it houses relics from the post-colonial era, details of the Coal city and defensive weapons from the Biafra war in its three galleries. All of which comes with a guided tour. It was established after the Nigeria/Biafran war to foster unity in Nigeria and it is in Enugu North LGA. Awhum waterfalls and Cave – Close to the Awhum Monastery in Udi LGA, this massive granite rock outcrop is a sight to behold especially with the cascading waterfall. This spot is great for birdwatching and taking great pictures with the cool scenery.
