The United Kingdom is now offering Nigerians the chance to process UK visas in 24 hours.

The Super Priority Visa Service, the fast track service for visa applications which makes this possible, has been unveiled by the British High Commission in Nigeria. The service will be available at the Commission’s offices in Lagos and Abuja.

But there’s a catch: using the service would attract a service cost of £750, in addition to the usual visa fees.

Paul Awkright, the British High Commissioner to Nigeria, admitted (albeit passively) that the cost was something that would be considered by potential applicants; but he was eager to stress its advantages especially for Nigerian businesses, which he said were the major customers whom the service was designed to serve.

“We expect his new service to be particularly useful for business”, he said. “We understand that business opportunities and urgent requirements can arise at a very short notice. We recognise this, and want to facilitate such travels to the UK with this new, super-fast service.”

The High Commissioner also said that the Super Priority Visa Service will be available alongside the current Priority Visa, and standard services, which have processing time spans of 5-7 days and 15 days respectively.

Appointments at the British High Commission’s Lagos and Abuja centres are available from Mondays to Thursdays, 8.30-10AM, and on Fridays, from 8.30-9AM.
