The internet is playing an increasingly prominent role in our lives, as we strive for greater comfort and convenience.
One aspect of our everyday routines which is increasingly being experienced online is shopping.
E-commerce, which refers to buying and selling carried out via electronic media, is gaining popularity in Nigeria, as the country’s population catches up with the global digital revolution.
Payporte
PayPorte is one of Nigeria’s most prominent online stores. The e-commerce platform is bringing the simplicity of internet based transactions and swift product delivery to a population that’s still largely given to visiting brick-and-mortar stores and paying in cash. Judging by its growth in the past few years, it appears to be on a steady course to encouraging Nigerian consumers away from sweaty trips to crowded marketplaces, to the ease and comfort of order and delivery.
Proudly Nigerian
Founded in
2014 by
Eyo Bassey, PayPorte is a fully Nigerian company and one of a handful of front-line e-commerce enterprises in the country. This online marketplace has a wide range of merchandise up for sale, ranging from clothing and bedding, to furniture and home appliances. Other items sold on the platform include perfume and fragrances, electronic gadgets and sport paraphernalia. These products are made available by local suppliers, and displayed for sale on the virtual shelves of the
PayPorte website.
As is the case with other e-commerce platforms, PayPorte takes orders from customers. Items ordered are then shipped to the customer after payment. PayPorte promises safe transactions for visitors to its store; personal information submitted by a buyer are protected by a payment gateway and strong security technology.
The PayPorte also has a mobile application which can be downloaded from
Google Playstore and Apple’s iOS Store.
For the People
Although it wasn’t initially designed to be a functioning e-commerce store, PayPorte has now become
one of the more widely recognized brands in Nigeria. A boost to its popularity came when it launched the
“1k Shop” early in 2016, in response to a general decline in its customers’ purchasing power during the economic recession. A variety of products are sold in that section of its store, none of them priced above
₦1,500.
As a sign that its contribution to the expansion of e-commerce was being observed and appreciated by the public, it was voted
E-commerce Company of the Year at the CBN Cashless Expo in 2016. It was also on
a list of top 50 brands in Nigeria for 2017.
These are some of the reasons
we love Payporte.
PayPorte has its headquarter at
No. 8 New Creation Close, Maruwa Roundabout, Lekki, Lagos. It also has offices across Nigeria, as well as in the United States, United Kingdom and China. They can be reached via their email address:
info@payporte.com.
