The company has at least two things going for it. First, it’s been around for decades and has gained the trust of countless customers over that time. And it has a presence across Nigeria that only a few other transporters can boast. ABC Transport was founded in 1993 by Frank Nneji, an entrepreneur from Imo State. At the time, the company stood out among interstate transport businesses because it was one of only a few professionally run ventures in the industry. But it paved the way for others and helped to transform the business of long-distance road travel in Nigeria. Today, ABC Transport covers more than a dozen routes, connecting several of Nigeria’s major cities. These include Lagos (where it has multiple terminals), Port Harcourt, Onitsha, Benin, Abuja, Calabar, and Enugu. These journeys may be undertaken in its coach or sprinter buses. The vehicles come with differing passenger fees. But they both promise decent legroom and comfort for customers; passengers can also charge their devices on board. Fire extinguishers and emergency exits are present to mitigate problems that may arise during trips.

Intending passengers may purchase their tickets on the ABC Transport website, or at the terminal in which they’ll board one of its buses. They can also do so on its mobile app, which is available on the Google Play store. ABC Transport runs Cargo Express, a cargo delivery service. There’s a separate website for this; here, customers can make a pick-up request, complete cargo bookings, calculate service rates, and track their shipments. Cargo Express supports e-commerce operations, offers home delivery, and works with courier and logistics companies. In its 27 years of serving the Nigerian populace, ABC Transport has won several awards from various organizations. These include the African Travellers Award for Best Transporter in Nigeria (2003), News Day Transport Company of the Year (2008), and the Consumer Protection Council Service Excellence Award (2012). These days, ABC Transport is looking to expand into other parts of West Africa. It already has a terminal in Accra, Ghana, and delivers cargo to Cotonou in the Republic of Benin, and Lome in Togo. The company could expand its routes to include other West African cities and countries in the coming years. Featured Image Source: ABC Transport PLC
