BBM was once everyone’s favourite messaging app before WhatsApp began its endless reign as the foremost IM app. BBM was made available on all mobile platforms in 2013 after the company lost a huge chunk of its users to Apple and Android. Sadly, the company has been struggling to gain a considerable market share ever since.
Nonetheless, BBM offers a great messaging experience with great privacy features and third-party integrations that allow you top-up your airtime and even send money via Quickteller right in the BBM app.
The app recently got an update that brought a redesigned interface. The messaging interface now looks pretty good. It appears the company is leveraging on recent User Interface design trends and standards, giving the BBM app the white and black feel of the Instagram app, and an all-around minimalist design. The icons also look similar to the Facebook app’s latest redesign.
