The internship program is in three forms
- The WTO Internship Programme is open to postgraduate students from all WTO members and countries or customs territories engaged in accession negotiations.
- The China LDC and Accessions Programme (also known as the China WTO Accession Internship Programme)
- The WTO Support Programme for Doctoral Studies.
- Interns will be assigned to divisions in the WTO that will determine the nature of their work.
The areas of work for the interns include
- Trade law
- Economics
- Statistics
- Trade policy
- Languages
- Administration (procurement, finance, human resources)
- Information, communication, and external relations
- Information management

To be eligible for the program
- The applicant must be a citizen of a WTO member state or a country or customs territory engaged in accession negotiations.
- The applicant must have obtained a bachelor’s degree in a relevant field and completed at least one year of postgraduate studies.
- The applicant must be between the ages of 21 and 30 years during the internship.
Features of the program include
- The internship will run for a maximum of six months.
- Selected interns will receive a daily allowance of (over $60) CHF 60 (including weekends and official holidays falling within the selected period).
- Coverage for medical health insurance.
