The Organization of Petroleum Exporting Countries (OPEC), through the OPEC Fund, is currently accepting applications from eligible candidates who want to join its Young Professional Development Program (YPDP).

The YPDP is a two-year program organized by the OPEC Fund for young professionals from its member countries. It’s designed to prepare them for a career in global development. Applicants are expected to be committed to international development and be driven to tackle challenges to social and economic progress in developing countries. Persons who apply for this program should have an excellent academic record and possess relevant professional experience.

Benefits

Persons who are accepted into the OPEC Fund’s Young Professional Development Program will benefit from it in the following ways:
  • Get trained, coached, and mentored by experienced professionals, and gain access to valuable professional networks.
  • Learn how the various departments at the OPEC Fund function, and how they contribute to achieving its goals.
  • Be rotated across various units at the OPEC Fund, and gain on-the-job experience.
  • Acquire the knowledge and skills required for an entry-level position at the OPEC Fund.
  • Contribute to the achievement of a world where sustainable development is the norm and not the exception.
  • May be offered a job at the fund upon completing the two-year program, depending on their performance and the existing needs of the Fund.

Eligibility

Applicants are expected to meet these conditions:
  • Be a citizen of an OPEC Fund member country.
  • Be aged 30 years or less at the time they apply.
  • Have at least a Master’s Degree from a reputable university.
  • Must specialize in a field relevant to the OPEC Fund’s operations: Economics, Finance, Business Administration, Information Technology, Engineering, Human Resources, or other related fields.
  • Have at least three years of relevant work experience.
  • Be fluent in English.
  • Have knowledge of the OPEC Fund’s mission and mandate.
  • Be willing to work with the OPEC Fund for a minimum of two years after the program, if selected to do so.

The Application Process

Applications for the Young Professional Development Program will close on February 28, 2022. Applicants should submit the following:
  • A YPDP online application form
  • Their Curriculum Vitae (CV)
  • An application essay (in PDF or Word format)
  • Academic certificate and transcripts
