The Oil and Gas Technical Apprenticeship Program trains enrollees in the technical operations within the oil and gas industry. If you would like to build a career as a technician in this sector, you may consider applying for a place in this program.

This year, the Oil and Gas Technical Apprenticeship Program has a new name: APTUS. According to the team at APTUS, this rebrand reflects a focus on adapting, adjusting, and being prepared. Apprentices, who will be drawn from a variety of backgrounds, do not need to have prior experience.

Benefits

OGTAP promises several benefits, including:
  • Learn from the best in the oil and gas industry
  • Acquire knowledge that makes them better technicians
  • Gain qualifications, such as the Scottish Vocational Qualification (SVQ) Level 2, National Certificate, Higher National Certificate, and OPITO Global Standards
  • After being trained in an industry-approved college for 21 months, they will spend 2 years with a sponsoring energy company, where they will gain industry-specific skills

Eligibility

This program is open to persons who meet the following criteria:
  • Have a National Identity Number (NIN)
  • Must be between 16 and 35 years old by May of the year in which they applied
  • Have at least a Credit grade (C) in their Ordinary Level exams, in the following subjects: Mathematics, English, Physics, Chemistry, and one other
  • Persons with OND, HND, B.Sc., M.Sc., and PhD in Engineering and the Sciences will also be considered
