  In a bid to promote entrepreneurship, transformation, and change in the innovative ecosystem to tackle challenges and build a more sustainable and efficient energy sector for Brazil, Cemig is inviting applications for the 2024 Inova Cemig Lab program. The program is aimed at seeking innovations that will contribute solutions to Cemig’s pain points and opportunities.

The Inova Cemig Lab Program is an initiative to address strategic topics focused on solving crucial challenges in the energy sector, from security and digitalization to the use of hydrogen as a source of clean and renewable energy.

The seven strategic themes for the program include

  • Digitalization of the electricity sector
  • Energy storage
  • Cybersecurity
  • Artificial Intelligence
  • Virtual and augmented reality
  • Hydrogen
  • Electrification of the economy
  • Renewable energy
  • Environment and climate change

To be eligible for the program

  • The program is open to national and international startups around the world
  • The solution must be able to solve a need that encompasses a strategic theme
  • Cemig is looking for individuals and startups that share similar values to establish a lasting relationship, with 18 months of monitoring and contracting the generated solution

Some of the benefits of the program include

  • The program is aimed at investing up to R$1.6 million in the solutions proposed in the Proofs of Concept (POCs)
  • Selected startups will stand the opportunity of winning a supply contract for Cemig for up to 24 months
  • Participants will be helping the world with innovative ideas, solutions, and affordable energy solutions
  • Mentorship and support for selected startups
