  To raise a new crop of civic-tech leaders, the Civic Hive has announced the 2024 edition of the Civic-Tech Fellowship, a 20-week bootcamp program aimed at empowering early-stage civic innovators with tech ideas capable of solving social problems.

The incubation program will focus on significant themes, including:

  • Civic Participation and Engagement
  • Transparency and Accountability
  • Institutional Efficiency
  • Justice Reforms
  • Climate Resilience and Environmental Issues
Bi-annually, the program incubates civic-tech solutions to advance the themes. The Civic Tech Fellowship embraces ideas regardless of the scale, local or hyperlocal, and the platform is open to the diverse use of technology, whether as text, radio, print, artificial intelligence, IoT, social media as a channel, or machine learning. The program is strongly interested in the impact of these tech solutions on people and civic spaces and the sustainability of these ideas to deliver value.

Thematic Areas:

  • Artificial Intelligence for Good
  • Low-cost Climate Tech Solutions and Advocacy Movements
  • Technology for Social Good (Health, Education, and Justice)

To be eligible for the program:

  • It is open to early-stage civic innovators with tech-enabled ideas that can solve societal problems.
  • The applicant must be based in Nigeria.
  • The applicant’s idea must be focused on civic participation and engagement, transparency and accountability, institutional efficiency, justice reforms, and climate resilience and environmental issues.

Some of the benefits of the program include:

  • The program will incubate 12 new innovative and creative civic-tech solutions.
  • Selected applicants will be placed on a monthly stipend of N150,000 and given access to a workspace throughout the fellowship.
