  Applications are currently open for the Africa Initiative for Governance (AIG) Scholarships 2022/2023. Exceptional candidates from Africa who seek to further their careers in public service are invited to apply.

Launched in 2017, the program has thus far provided 27 scholarships worth ₤50,000 each to aspiring public service leaders to pursue a Master of Public Policy at the Blavatnik School of Government, University of Oxford. Beneficiaries of the scholarships undertake studies under the world-class faculty at the university and gain knowledge and skills that will prove useful in public service. At the end of their program, they are expected to return to their home countries and apply their learning in the various capacities they take up, enhancing policy-making and driving reforms.

Requirements

Intending applicants are expected to meet these conditions to be considered for selection:
  • Aged between 25 and 50 years
  • Be a Nigerian who currently works in the public service
  • Have at least seven years of work experience
  • Possess a Bachelor’s Degree with at least a Second-Class Upper (2:1) qualification
  • Be admitted into the Blavatnik School of Government after being shortlisted for the AIG scholarships

The Application Process

Persons interested in applying for the AIG scholarships can do so on the program’s application portal. Only candidates who are selected as finalists will be contacted. They will need to apply to the Blavatnik School of Government, University of Oxford, for admission. If they are offered admission, they will be considered by the school for an AIG Scholarship.
