Starting in 2014, the Africa Prize for Engineering Innovation has trained, mentored, and provided communications support to 149 businesses in 23 countries. About 71% of this program’s alumni are now generating revenue. They have also raised $39 million in grants and equity.

Eligibility
The Africa Prize for Engineering Innovation accepts entries from applicants that meet these criteria:- Early stages of commercializing an engineering solution
- Solution should be a product, technology or service in agricultural technology, biotechnology, chemical engineering, civil engineering, computer science, electrical and electronic engineering, materials science, medical engineering, and any other field of engineering
- Must have strong potential for replication and scale-up
- The solution will bring environmental and social benefits to people living in sub-Saharan Africa
