The United States Consulate in Lagos has partnered with Venture Garden Foundation and Ascend Studios to set up the Academy for Women Entrepreneurs (AWE) in Nigeria. The program is designed to equip women entrepreneurs with the training, networks, and skills they need to build sustainable businesses.

The Academy for Women Entrepreneurs (AWE) is an initiative of the U.S. that’s implemented across the world. Now in its fourth year, the program has supported many businesswomen in several regions.

Benefits

  • About 250 women will be chosen to take part in this year’s edition of the AWE program.
  • Participants will get training and resources that will enable them to grow their businesses.
  • They will be able to tap into new networks that could help them with the information and support they need to expand their enterprise.

Eligibility

Persons selected to take part in this program are expected to meet the following conditions:

  • Be a Nigerian woman who runs a business.
  • Be willing to participate in a one-month intensive experience that will require them to devote 7-10 hours per week to the training sessions.
  • Be willing to participate in the in-person part of the program, a three-day intensive experience that requires 7-10 hours per day of activities.
  • In order to be selected, candidates should demonstrate leadership not only in their companies but also in their communities.
