The British Council Future Leaders Connect targets people aged 25 to 35 years old, who are interested in global policymaking. Through a six-week policy and leadership development program designed by UK experts, young people from across the world will be trained to be better at pursuing policy ideals, while also nurturing connections with like-minded people from all over the world.

Benefits Of The Program

Persons who qualify for this program will gain from it in many ways:
  • They will get access to a global network of policymakers and experts in leadership
  • Participants get the chance to discuss policy with UK parliamentarians and senior world leaders
  • Participants will be able to discuss the world’s policy challenges with other young policy change-makers and become a part of a global network
  • They will enjoy coaching sessions with existing Future Leaders Connect members

Eligibility

Persons interested in this program may apply if they are:
  • Between the ages of 25 and 35
  • Living in a participating country (including Nigeria)
  • Able to speak and understand English

What The Future Leaders Connect Seeks In Applicants

  • Ability to explain why they want to change their country through policymaking
  • Know how the policymaking process in their home countries function
  • Willingness to engage the Future Leaders Connect over the coming years
  • Must have demonstrated leadership in various quarters, including career

Application Process

If you would like to apply for this program, you can do so after answering some screening questions online. If you scale through it, you will receive an email requesting that you apply for the program. Note that the whole application must be done at once. It takes about an hour to complete the application. Persons shortlisted from this stage will be invited to an interview. They will pitch their policy vision to a panel, and explain their leadership experience. The panel will evaluate the presenters and select finalists who will go through the six weeks of the policy and leadership development program. Applications will be accepted until Sunday, July 18.
