Features of the program include:
- Selected candidates participate in a three-month practicum in the United States, where they are matched with civil society organizations.
- Candidates are exposed to the leadership and civic engagement academy, where they engage in face-to-face training, mentorship, service learning, and professional coaching.
- Participants draft and implement a community engagement project with the support of host organizations and mentors in the US.
- Select US hosts and CEE specialists travel to a country that is an alumnus of the CEE to support the implementation of projects.

To be eligible for the program:
- Applicants must be between the ages of 21 and 27.
- Must be a citizen of an eligible country (Nigeria is eligible).
- Applicants must be currently living and working in their home country or have refugee status.
- The applicant must have a minimum of two years of professional experience in community or civil society issues.
- Applicants must show commitment to returning to their country after the program.
- Proficiency in spoken and written English.
