Applications are currently open for the 2023 edition of the GSMA AgriTech Accelerator. If you lead a startup that’s providing digital solutions to major challenges faced by farmers, you may consider applying for a place in the program.

The GSMA AgriTech Accelerator has been commissioned by the German Federal Ministry for Economic Cooperation and Development (BMZ) and is being executed by GSMA, an organization that represents mobile network operators worldwide. The organizers of the accelerator say they hope that it will drive the growth of digital agriculture solutions that creatively solve problems around farmers’ livelihood and financial inclusion, and makes their farming practice more climate change resilient.
Benefits
Startups accepted into the accelerator will benefit from it in the following ways:
- Ten selected applicants will receive technical assistance for two years, to enable them to scale their digital agriculture solution
- They will receive mentorship from the GSMA team
- Startups selected will get support to enable them to improve their product design and user experience
- They will be granted access to GSMA events, and capacity-building sessions that will prepare them for investment

Eligibility
GSMA wants to receive applications from candidates who meet these criteria:
- Must be registered to operate as a business in the country in which they are active
- Should be able to demonstrate that their solution is making an impact, i.e. is improving the livelihood of smallholder farmers
- The startups they represent should be at least two years old and have a client base (either farmers or other players in the agricultural value chain)
- Applicants must own the Intellectual Property (IP) for their solution
- The solution should be accessible to women, youth, and people living with disability

Note: Examples of use cases that are relevant to this program are Digital Advisory, Digital Procurement, Agri-Digital Financial Services, Smart Farming, and Agri-eCommerce.
