By now, you should not doubt the power of Instagram and the influence it has on businesses, as the platform has accounted for the success of various businesses. As a fashion entrepreneur, it is important that in this day and age you know how to leverage the platform’s advantages to your business growth and development.
1. Set up your profile
When you want to use Instagram to market your business, you have to do the first obvious thing, open an Instagram account.
After opening the account, you have to change your settings to make it a business account. You have to take your time to build your profile. Put your business name, profile pictures and other relevant details. Make sure the name of your Instagram handle is not complicated. Use less symbols to make it easier for your customers to search for you. Use your fashion business name.
2. Hashtag your posts
Using Instagram hashtags is a good way to attract traffic to your page. You can add your location so that people close to you can patronize you.
Use hashtags relevant to your post. If you are posting about shoes, you can use hashtags like #shoes #nigeria #locallymade #fashionlovers, etc. Hashtags like these will attract potential customers. If you use hashtags irrelevant to your post, you will attract uninterested customers.
3. Be intentional about your posts
On Instagram, people only care to spend few seconds before scrolling to the next post. Instagram users scroll very fast. The only way to grab their attention is to post something eye-catching.
On Instagram, you can use videos and pictures to advertise your products. For pictures, take note of your picture angle, lighting, camera, etc. Your picture should be clear and the product should be very visible. If you want to advertise a dress, you might ask a friend to model it for you.
For videos, keep it simple and short, probably for 15 seconds. The background music also plays an important role. Some will watch your videos because they are vibing to their favourite song and that way, you have caught their attention.
You can make use of a unique splash of colours or designs to attract your potential clients.
4. Pay attention to captions
Captions catch attention. You like the rhyme right. Okay, let’s proceed. The most important aspect of your caption is your first line, because it determines if people will be interested in reading further or not. Don’t pay attention to only your first line, make sure the rest of the post is reasonable too.
Recently, keyword search has been added on Instagram, so your captions are more important than ever. People use keywords to search for what they want. Inasmuch as you want to be stylistic and creative with your captions, make sure you add words that will lead your customers to you.
5. Offer “followers-only” promotions
Everyone loves a discount or something free. To increase your engagement on Instagram, you can make promotion offers for only your followers.
It can be a discount sale, free delivery, posting their pictures on your page to appreciate them or following them back.
Make sure your offers are unpredictable. This method keeps people glued to your page.
6. Increase your DM usage
Building an Instagram page can be very tasking and time consuming. It is very important you understand it is a business page, you are there to meet with prospective customers and increase the visibility of your brand.
Don’t be reluctant in replying messages. Although, the process can be tiring and not everyone that messages you is serious, but it is important that you reply promptly. It is a great marketing strategy.
After applying these methods, it is important that you make use of Instagram analytics to check if your strategies are working or not. It is an encompassing feedback method.
