Applications are currently open for the Anzisha Prize, Africa’s biggest award for young entrepreneurs aged 15 to 22 years old. If you’re a young person and you’re building an exciting enterprise on the continent, you may consider entering for this competition.
For more than a decade, the Anzisha Prize has supported very young founders with the business aid and funding they need to properly manage and scale their ventures. To date, it has helped over 200 young entrepreneurs from across Africa to develop and build their business.
The Anzisha Prize Fellowship lasts for three years. Within this period, the program will monitor the progress of participating businesses and their founders. Outstanding participants will gain access to short courses, cloud services, and financial rewards.
Benefits
Persons who become fellows of this program will benefit from it in the following ways:
•Receive bi-annual cash stipends in year one and three of the fellowship
•Participate in internships and get expert technical support in years two and three
•Receive a prize if they emerge the best job creator (created the most job opportunities) in their cohort
•Get a prize for recording the highest revenue growth since joining the fellowship
•Be awarded the story telling prize if they are the best at communicating their entrepreneurship story over multiple media channels
•Receive the integration systems and process prize for the entrepreneur who has best utilized systems and processes to improve their business
Eligibility
Applicants should meet these criteria:
•Must be between 15 and 22 years old, and have an ID passport or other document that proves their age
•Must be a citizen of an African country and run a business based in Africa or that serves Africans
•The business must already be active in its target market and should be generating revenue
•Applicants must be a founder or cofounder of a business
•Must spend at least 20 hours weekly on their business before selection, and must be willing to continue doing so after being selected
Note: Entrepreneurs from all industries are invited to apply.
Documents Required
Persons who want to apply should do so with these documents:
•A copy of their Identification Document
•Company registration documents (for registered businesses)
•Logos for the venture
•Pictures of the applicant’s project
•A photo of the applicant
