More Details: Information minister Lai Mohammed said the meeting which was at the instance of President Muhammadu is billed to engage political leaders, traditional rulers, youths and religious leaders across all geopolitical zones in the country in the aftermath of the #EndSARS protest. The federal government delegation which was led by the Chief of Staff to the President Ibrahim Gambari, also had the Senate President, Ahmad Lawan, the FCT minister, Mohammed Bello, the Minister of Information, Alhaji Lai Mohammed, and the Inspector-General of Police, Mohammed Adamu, in attendance. Also present were some National Assembly members from the region. As expected, the reasoning by the forum was that the chaos which ensued in the country some weeks was as a result of the #EndSARS protests. Consequently, they called for more censorship regulations of the social media space. Even more scandalous was the submission thanking traditional rulers in the North particularly for instigating ethnic and religious sentiments aimed at stopping the looting and riots in their domain. The Reactions: A major part of the conclusions from the meeting met with harsh criticism from the public immediately the news filtered into the public domain.

Attendees of the meeting were also criticised for recommending and fostering division in the national fabric in a desperate move to resist the demand for accountability by the populace. As if on cue, Southern Leaders from the south-west, south-east, south-south alongside those from the middle belt met in Abuja and attacked the submissions of the Northern governors and traditional rulers. Alternatively, on Friday, the same delegation from the Federal Government met with governors and traditional rulers in southwestern Nigeria and the submissions from the meeting was quite different from the Northern version. The forum instead called for, and demanded from the FG, to open the western wing of the Nigerian border. It also called for adopting recommendations of the 2014 National Conference to restructure the nation as well as deploying existing laws to tackle fake news rather than making new laws. Bottom line: From the foregoing, it would appear that the resolutions submitted by the Northern group initially seemed like it was to be enforced on the entire nation. And now that the conclusions from the forum of travesty have been quashed by more sections of the nation, it is believed that the biased recommendations would never see the light of day.
