  Applications are currently open for the MIT Solv[ED] Youth Innovation Challenge. If you are aged 24 or younger, here’s a chance to be recognized for the innovative, tech-driven solution that you’ve created.

The Solv[ED] competition is designed to inspire young people across the world to develop and implement solutions to the needs of their communities and the globe, by leveraging technology. Ideas can be submitted for the competition if they improve the opportunities for people to learn across their lifetimes, open up economic and financial opportunities for underserved people, makes quality healthcare accessible to all, and tackles climate change.

Benefits

Winners selected from the competition will benefit in the following ways:
  • Share more than $200,000 in prizes with other Solv[ED] winners. The 10 selected teams will each receive at least $5,000 in prize funding.
  • Receive mentorship from members of the MIT and MIT Solve community.
  • Get publicity at the Solv[ED] Solutions event, where selected solutions will be announced.

Eligibility

Teams are expected to meet these criteria to be considered:
  • Team members should be aged 24 and under.
  • The solution must be tech-based.
  • The solutions may be products or services at various stages of development, including concepts, prototypes, or fully operational Non-profit organizations.
  • They should address one of Solve’s four pillars: Learning, Health, Sustainability, and Economic Prosperity, as well as environmental, social, and economic needs that have been unmet.

Criteria For Evaluation

Solutions submitted to Solve will be evaluated based on their potential to impact their target population, feasibility, innovative approach, human-centeredness and inclusivity (for underserved communities), and scalability.
