$10,000 Grant Available In The All On/NCIC Embryo Incubation Program For Renewable Energy Startups

The Nigeria Climate Innovation Center (NCIC), in collaboration with All On (backed by the Rockefeller Foundation) and the Enterprise Development Center (EDC), is organizing an incubation program for early-stage renewable energy businesses and startups in the country. 

The Embryo Incubation Program (as the incubator is called) is designed to equip participating startups with the knowledge, skills, and technical capacity they require to make a difference in the markets they target. Ultimately, the organizers want these businesses to be able to contribute scalable renewable energy solutions to a national supply of power that’s thus far remained insufficient to cater to the energy needs of Nigerians.

The Embryo Incubation Program (EIP) will last for six months and will be run virtually. While this program is open to all qualified applicants, women-led renewable energy startups are strongly encouraged to apply.

Benefits

Businesses selected to take part in this program will benefit in the following ways:

  • Get the training they need to go from ideation stage to successful renewable energy business
  • Receive $10,000 in equity-free grants if they are one of the eight finalists chosen at the demo day
  • Be equipped with the technical skills and capacity they require to make a positive impact in the markets they target

Eligibility

Businesses and startups that wish to apply are expected to meet these conditions before doing so:

  • Be an early-stage business or startup in the renewable energy space
  • Have energy solutions that are targeted at Nigerians
  • Be willing and able to devote a significant amount of time to the incubator program

At the end of the program, participating startups will get to pitch their solution to a panel of judges. The eight best solutions will each be awarded $10,000 in equity-free grants. 

Applications for the incubator will remain open until March 4.
