YouTube is moving towards becoming a full-fledged social networking site with the launch of YouTube community. This is to allow video creators the opportunity to engage more with their viewers.
This new feature allows YouTube creators run a sort of social network on their channels page, where YouTubers can send messages to their audience without having to post a video. This would function as news feeds, letting them post text updates, live videos, GIFs, images and lots more to their subscribers.
The subscribers see the post in their feeds or they can choose to receive push notifications on the post from the favorite creators. This will enhance the bond between video content creators and their fans and encourage YouTube video content creators to interact with their audience on YouTube itself, instead of on other platforms such as Twitter or Facebook.
This will help YouTube compete better with rival platforms who already have these features.
