Popular Nigerian actor and movie director, Kunle Afolayan, has announced that he is working on a new television series scheduled for release next year.

Epic yoruba

Afolayan hopes to capture  the 16th-century tradition of the ethnic group in the new epic Yoruba drama TV series. Speaking to NAN on Wednesday, he said:
“I have quite a number of projects that I am working on, but I don’t want to reveal too much.”
The award winning director actor and producer, who recently won an award for his movie, October 1– that was set on the eve of Nigeria’s independence – was reluctant to give details about this new work, but  hinted that the upcoming TV series would be about the 16th century Yoruba kings, among other things native to the Yoruba people. He said further that  the drama “ will not only show us the way we once worked, played and prayed, it will also take us back to our origin.’’ Apart from October first, some other well-received works by Afolayan include The Figurine: Araromire and Phone Swap featuring the legendary comedic actor Chika Okpala (Chief Zebrudaya), Wale Ojo, Joke Silva and Nse Ikpe Etim. Afolayan, who comes from a family of film makers, is the son of late Ade Afolayan “Ade Love”, one of the biggest film makers of his time.
